John is a lifelong media artist, creative director, marketing strategist & entrepreneur. He got his start as a graphic artist & designer for brands like Epoch (which he founded) Dr. Martens, Rampage and Hot Topic. Throughout the 90’s John produced fashion shows, shoots and products for multiple brands in the exploding street-wear scene of Los Angeles.
At the turn of the Millennium, John founded Media Arts Group in downtown LA - a pop-centric creative agency that did work across fashion, music, video games, tech and CPG. In 2005, he merged MAG with Threshold Digital Marketing to form Threshold Interactive. a company that he helmed for the next decade. This multi award-winning shop helped to usher in the era of branded social media, launching the first-ever brand channel on YouTube, producing a long stream of Viral video hits, and named AdAge’s Small Agency of the Year. In 2015, John sold Threshold to Zealot Networks, a company born out of Maker Studios. John headed up product & innovation across Zealot’s 16 publishing, content, agency and event companies, until leaving to start GoodLab in late 2016. The rest, as they say, is history future.
